Mix-and-Match Style

California based interior designer Sheri Sheridan recently shared her own home and style secrets with Sunset magazine and now I am wondering if she is looking for a roommate (I am only half-way kidding). Her home has a subtle mix of antique feminine charm with a sleek modern edge and I LOVE IT!

Overall she mixes high-and low-end products flawlessly to create a look that can not only be admired, but actually can be achieved. Some of my favorite take-a-way ideas from Sheri are:

New-rules-salvage-l

She salvaged this bench on the street, fixed the broken leg, painted the frame white, and had the cushion reupholstered in a lilac velvet remnant she got for $75.

New-rules-express-l

This is a shot of her dresser and she's mixed antique figurine from the 20s with a vintage-looking phone from Pottery Barn.  The collection is pretty, interesting, and still simple and practical.

New-rules-plates-l

She sets a unique table by mixing plain white dishes from chain stores with some vintage pieces (like this gorgeous vintage Waterford flower dishes).

Don't be fooled by the glitz and glam of her bedroom. This regency-look was created while pinching some pennies. The "headboard" is made of mirror tiles from Ikea (a four-pack costs $4.99) and her pin tuck bedding are from West Elm ($99/queen and $24/euro sham).

For all of Sheri's great ideas for paint colors, throw pillows, and mixing time periods and styles-- check this out on Sunset.com.
