October 21, 2009The potter turned designer who mixes equal and opposite parts irreverence, WASP, humor, and glamor to shape his designs is now allowing you to ride the coattails of his well-tested, trademark style. Jonathan Adler has launched a "Design Your Own" section of his website.
He provides six basic products (pillows, rugs, etc), some signature patterns, an assortment of colors; and a few sizes to choose from and then -- Wham! Your designs come to life in the hands of Peruvian artisans and then arrive at your door fresh from the hands of the UPS man.
Would you expect anything less from the man commissioned to design the real Malibu Barbie Dream Home?
Or the Trina Turk store? I hope you wouldn't.
Here's what I turned out in a couple of minutes with the templates.
Have a friend who ponders the big questions in life? Let him rest his jumbled head on the question mark pillow.
Do you have a sister who is always lugging tons of things? Or know a new mom who is way too hip for your standard baby bag? Design a bag for them.
Feel overwhelmed by all the options? Not too worry, Mr. Adler's come up with some examples himself:
For the Anglophile-light -- a green, brown, and light blue Union Jack pillow.
Sometimes it's hard to think of a heart as being anything other than red. Adler opts for pink and brown.
