Yesterday, Zoe shared a great site with me. Lucky magazine's daily bloggers work very hard to update their site with daily tips and finds. The best might just be their deal of the day. Where you have 24 hours to purchase a particular item at up to 50% off. Today's deal is a jade John Robshaw Ikat pillow.usually selling for $50, today it is only $25 if you use the Lucky promo code "luckydaily2". Hurry you have until 7:59 a.m. EST tomorrow morning!

I may have solved (one or two of) your gift giving woes early this year (and for under $5 a pop). I know it is a little early, but I can't resist getting excited for the holidays especially when I saw these adorable paper Christmas Creatures.

Christmas-Creatures

You can purchase this print and make-at-home kit online at Mibo(for about $5), and they'll email you a PDF to just print on your color printer. like this:

Rudolph

Not only are these cute and festive, but they can be used as ornaments, name holders at place settings, or craft projects for you and the kids (or just you!).

I've noticed a few comments on our site from readers who think a room is too "cluttered" for their taste. While, everyone is entitled to their own decorating opinion -- it has made me wonder is one mans clutter another man's clever display?

Just the other week we were talking to designer Joe Minton (who designed the interiors for the 2009 Southern Accents showhouse) and someone asked the question, "what is the difference between layering and just clutter?" His answer was, "proportion and their relationship to one another."

But what does that really mean?

Do you remember any of your childhood birthday parties? If so, do you have a favorite? I honestly don't remember much about mine, but I do have a new favorite. A friend passed along this blog post from BirdDogPress and what Allison did for her son's 3rd birthday party puts those little paper hats from the drug store to shame. With the theme of yellow (his favorite color), she created an entire backyard party with classics and kid favorites like pin-the-tail-on -the-donkey, bubbles, and cupcakes.

For some time now I have been completely drawn to the color gray in both fashion and decorating. I've dreamed about a gray velvet sofa, I wear gray heels to work at least 3 out of 5 days, I even worked it into my wedding colors this year. My latest gray obsession is finding the perfect gray paint.

I recently inherited a great table (on casters) and set of chairs from my mother-in-law (thanks, Vicki!) which I would like to repaint (along with another table and a mirror I have) to go in my dining room. Basically, I want to take these random items and give them a cohesive and stylish look. I am loving the combination of darker gray combined with antiqued ivory and light gray. I am hoping to find the right combination that can pull these three odd pieces of furniture together. Here are some of the fruits from my gray garden (or grey, if you prefer):

I always thought of Restoration Hardware was a place to buy bathroom drawer pulls and maybe house numbers, but recently I am looking at them in a new light. Their new collection of furniture is so chic -- I just love it. Check it out, enjoy, and happy Friday!

Don't you just love the home section of Anthropologie? The eclectic, diverse look of their glasses, dishes, linens, furniture and decorative accents are unlike any other store, much less a national retailer. But have you ever wondered who picks out these great finds and where on earth do they discover them? Now you can find out and go along for the adventure.

Anthropologie-Style

A new TV show on Sundance Channel called MAN SHOPS GLOBE premiers October 7th and follows Keith Johnson, buyer-at-large for the innovative retailer, as he travels six months of the year exploring and shopping everywhere from flea-markets in Paris to remote artist's studios in Turkey. The half-an-hour show will follow Keith as he travels in France, Turkey, South Africa, Holland, India, U.K., Tunisia, Argentina. Whew, and this is just the first 8 episodes!

I recently got a catalog from The Land of Nod, which is a fantastic source for decorating children's rooms. It is by the same owners as Crate and Barrel and CB2. Think of it as a direct competitor to Pottery Barn Kids, but a little more hip. Even though I am not shopping for myself, repeat, NOT shopping for myself. I found so many great items and ideas for decorating a kid's room with the convenience of catalog without necessarily the look of main stream catalog. One of my favorites is this frame wallpaper. You can instantly turn any wall into an kid's art gallery. With hundreds of empty frames, your kids can color, draw, and create their own artwork. Best part-- your fridge is free of clutter and the art work is instant framed and hung on the wall.

Here is a question of the day -- How do you make the bed?

Canhandh-cottagebed

Are you a buttoned-up hospital corners type or do you just pull the duvet up to create the appearance of a tidy bed? What about pillows? I recently stayed at a friend's beach house and had to remove at least 15 pillows from the bed before I could tuck in. All of his makes me want to take an informal poll to determine bedding styles.
