Yesterday, Zoe shared a great site with me. Lucky magazine's daily bloggers work very hard to update their site with daily tips and finds. The best might just be their deal of the day. Where you have 24 hours to purchase a particular item at up to 50% off. Today's deal is a jade John Robshaw Ikat pillow.usually selling for $50, today it is only $25 if you use the Lucky promo code "luckydaily2". Hurry you have until 7:59 a.m. EST tomorrow morning!

The potter turned designer who mixes equal and opposite parts irreverence, WASP, humor, and glamor to shape his designs is now allowing you to ride the coattails of his well-tested, trademark style. Jonathan Adler has launched a "Design Your Own" section of his website.

Customize-hp

He provides six basic products (pillows, rugs, etc), some signature patterns, an assortment of colors; and a few sizes to choose from and then -- Wham! Your designs come to life in the hands of Peruvian artisans and then arrive at your door fresh from the hands of the UPS man.

Unless you've been living under a rock, you've probably noticed that it's Breast Cancer Awareness month. There has probably been a Race for the Cure 5K race in your area. You may have seen NFL players sporting pink accents to their uniforms or a giant pink ribbon on your sports team's field. If you weren't aware -- hey, guess what, it's Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

Who doesn't like mirrors? They can be elegant, classic, or eclectic, as well as a cheap way to add some personality to a room. I love traditional mirrors hung on an empty wall, mirrored furniture, and even mirrored coasters for a coffee table or side table! They bring big impact with a small price -- try using some of these ideas in your home.

Versailles-hall-of-mirrors

Even Louis XIV knew good style when he saw it -- this is the breathtaking Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles, the legendary home of three French kings. The Hall of Mirrors was built in the 1670s as proof of the economic and political power of France. Three hundred and fifty-seven mirrors are arranged in the shape of seventeen arches in this hallway. Each mirrored arch is paired with a window on the opposite side of the hall, which creates the illusion of thirty-four windows in all!

Try out Louis XIV's style for yourself with these arched mirrors from Pottery Barn

We've all got one -- a room that desperately needs attention. Maybe it's empty or maybe it's just plain boring, but it needs some personality.

My favorite way to spruce up a room is to add a showstopping piece that's quirky and unconventional. It doesn't need to be large or expensive -- just packed with personality. It can be a pair of funky throw pillows, an interesting tabletop collection, or even just a crazy wall color. Most people don't expect to be blown away when they walk into someone else's home, so give them (and yourself) something new and different!

Check out the rooms below -- they take "unconventional" to a whole new level. Whether you love them or hate them, you have to admit, these homeowners get points for creativity!

Arch-digest

I absolutely love a hanging lantern. I found one at a local antique store recently and had it rewired then hung it in my dining room. Now, I'm noticing them all over the place, and find myself mindlessly wandering the internet looking for more. I have yet to see a place where I think a lantern doesn't work.

I always thought of Restoration Hardware was a place to buy bathroom drawer pulls and maybe house numbers, but recently I am looking at them in a new light. Their new collection of furniture is so chic -- I just love it. Check it out, enjoy, and happy Friday!

Don't you just love the home section of Anthropologie? The eclectic, diverse look of their glasses, dishes, linens, furniture and decorative accents are unlike any other store, much less a national retailer. But have you ever wondered who picks out these great finds and where on earth do they discover them? Now you can find out and go along for the adventure.

Anthropologie-Style

A new TV show on Sundance Channel called MAN SHOPS GLOBE premiers October 7th and follows Keith Johnson, buyer-at-large for the innovative retailer, as he travels six months of the year exploring and shopping everywhere from flea-markets in Paris to remote artist's studios in Turkey. The half-an-hour show will follow Keith as he travels in France, Turkey, South Africa, Holland, India, U.K., Tunisia, Argentina. Whew, and this is just the first 8 episodes!

I recently got a catalog from The Land of Nod, which is a fantastic source for decorating children's rooms. It is by the same owners as Crate and Barrel and CB2. Think of it as a direct competitor to Pottery Barn Kids, but a little more hip. Even though I am not shopping for myself, repeat, NOT shopping for myself. I found so many great items and ideas for decorating a kid's room with the convenience of catalog without necessarily the look of main stream catalog. One of my favorites is this frame wallpaper. You can instantly turn any wall into an kid's art gallery. With hundreds of empty frames, your kids can color, draw, and create their own artwork. Best part-- your fridge is free of clutter and the art work is instant framed and hung on the wall.

I typically get caught up going to the same handful of websites for online shopping, but sometimes my web browser veers from its usual well-charted, type-ahead path. This morning I thought I'd check in on some of my less-traveled favorites. Most are shops that I discovered through the physical store, but some are ones that I've only found online.

Paris-market

The Paris Market and Brocante -- Savannah, GA -- Inspired by the owners' (pictured above) trip to the famed Paris flea market Marche aux Puces. Since then, the shop's offerings have expanded alongside the owners' travel itineraries. The inventory is a direct reflection of the international markets they've scoured that year -- Moroccan souks, check; London's Portobello Road, check; Middle-Eastern bazaars, check.
